Yes, rules are important, if annoying. I like having freedom on forums, myself, but certain rules are necessary.
1:
Absolutely no discrimination. If you hate homosexuals, and you can't suck it up and ignore it, then just walk away right now. If you have to announce to everyone that you can't stand Asians, I promise, I'll hear about it and you'll be banned until you have learned your lesson. But if you can just grow up and play nice with everyone, you can stay. This is my most important rule, because I'm bisexual, and it really hurts when people treat me differently when they learn that.
2:
Along with the first rule, you can't shove your religion of belief in someone's face. That really bothers me. If you want to have a calm discussion about Christianity vs. Buddhism (just an example) feel free to do so, though PMs. No religion other than those of the roleplays you're participating in is to be discussed on the main forum.
3:
No bullying. If anyone is being harassed, bullied, or anything else, you will be warned, then banned. This includes sexual harassment, unfair accusations, and ignoring someone, when they're clearly talking to you.
4:
Don't overreact. If someone tells you that they would rather not RP with you, and they're calm, there's no reason you can't respond with a polite "Maybe later" or "Alright", then end the conversation. There's no need to go on a rant because you now think that whoever hates you.
5:
No sexual content on any board other than that 18+ board. Seriously. When you go onto that board, it is clearly marked as 18+ and with a warning that if you're not 18 years of age or older, we cannot be blamed for anything you see there. Sorry.
That's everything I can think of at the moment, but this will probably be updated periodically as I cook up new ways to limit your freedom (I'm joking, if you can't tell).
